The Motherhood Collective - February

Now you've probably heard about my Existing in Photos for your Children campaign.

(unless you're new here, the you can check it out HERE - and welcome!)

It is something that I am very close to and talk to you about often.

Next month will mark it's one year anniversary and it's time that I start being more involved with #justexist - ing.

I happen to be part of a wonder group of ladies that feel absolutely the same about existing and have committed to photographing ourselves with our children each month for one year...we are

The Motherhood Collective.

Follow our blog circle each month by clicking on the next member linked at the bottom of the page, and keep clicking until you're back here to make sure you complete the circle.

There is so much talent in this group - I hope it inspires you to do the same.

These will be images that are going to make me reach out of my comfort zone and push myself as an artist... but this is going to be a project that brings me joy.

When to Book Your Newborn Session

Having a baby is a very exciting and busy time in the life of a parent.

_0118

Many times parents have planned on booking their newborn portraits once they are home with baby, but the first few weeks are a blur and now baby is two months and they regret not booking sooner.

_0054

To avoid this, I have had many mommies-to-be book while in the third trimester(and some in the first!) to ensure availability around their due date.  I say 'around' because babies tend to be unpredictable and come into the world when they decide the time is right.

_0018

Once you book and secure your session with me, you and your little one take priority on my calendar.  When baby arrives(no matter if they are early or late), let me know and we plan your session date/time from there.  Ideally when baby is between 5-10 days old.

We use this time frame as a guide for the reason that during this time baby is still very sleepy and curled.  If breastfeeding, after the first few days mom is producing efficiently so baby is getting a full tummy and is sleeping a bit longer between feeds. After this time frame they tend to be more alert and love to stretch :)

All newborn sessions are done in-home as I feel that mom and baby are much more comfortable in their own home (if for some reason, you do not wish to hold the session in your home, an alternate location is available).  Depending on baby, their portraits session can be anywhere from 1.5 - 2 hours with plenty of time for feeding, changing and snuggling too!  I will bring everything needed in regards to gear & props (so you don't need to lift a finger) and will set up in a room with lots of natural light - usually by a large window or patio door.

_0117

Your image proofs will be ready to view within one week from your session, in which time we will book your In Person Ordering Appointment(also held in your home) where I will reveal your little one's portraits to you and bring all of my product samples so you can view before ordering.  I am there to help you decide which collection and products work best with your favorite images, your home, style and decor.  Once ordered, all products are delivered to your door in 4-6 weeks and you will enjoy them for years to come.  I promise.

_0083

If you haven't pre-booked and you are home with you new baby that you would like to have portraits of, I will try my absolute best to accommodate your little one even if they are a bit older.  They grow so quickly in their first few months, I believe it is so important to have portraits of your child, no matter the age.

It is never too early to book your Newborn Session.  If you are currently expecting and know you would like sweet portraits of your newborn, please do not hesitate to inquire and have your name placed on my calendar.
